Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer

Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer, Inc. (SPOHNC) — a patient-directed, self-help organization — was founded in 1991 by an oral cancer survivor. It is a non-profit organization dedicated to meeting the emotional, physical and humanistic needs of oral and head and neck cancer patients and their caregivers.
SPOHNC chapters hold monthly meetings offering information, support and encouragement to newly diagnosed patients, survivors, family members and friends in a friendly and non-threatening forum. Survivors discuss their situations, experiences, coping strategies and hopes. Educational presentations are also part of the SPOHNC program.
The New Orleans chapter of SPOHNC meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 5 p.m. on the 3rd floor of the Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Center.
